Summer Game Fest 2026 delivered one of the most packed showcases in recent memory. Geoff Keighley's flagship event ran just under two hours and featured more than 30 games, anchored by several genuinely surprising announcements.
The Headliners
Half-Life 3's announcement was the undeniable highlight, closing the show with a two-minute teaser. BioWare showed the first gameplay footage of the next Mass Effect, confirming a 2027 release window. Capcom unveiled Monster Hunter Wilds: Sunbreak, a major expansion launching this November.
Indie Highlights
The indie segment was particularly strong. Hollow Knight: Silksong finally received a release date of September 15. Platformer fans also got a first look at the next game from the team behind Celeste. Hades II exited early access with its 1.0 launch announced for August.
