What to Expect

Industry analysts expect significant airtime for the next 3D Mario title, which has been rumored for a holiday 2026 release. A new Mario Kart is also anticipated, building on the foundation of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe which recently passed 70 million units sold. Metroid Prime 4, which was showcased at the Switch 2 launch event, is expected to receive a firm release date.

"Nintendo typically reserves its June Direct for the holiday lineup. This year carries extra weight as it is the first holiday season for Switch 2."

Third-Party Support

The Direct is also expected to feature third-party partners. Square Enix, EA, and Ubisoft have all confirmed they have Switch 2 titles in development. A port of Street Fighter 6 and an exclusive Dragon Quest title are among the commonly cited predictions.
